# Set up InstantClips

InstantClips makes short video ads for TikTok and Instagram from a product page link or product photos. These steps add its MCP server, https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp, to the assistant you are running in. The user asked for this by pasting the line that sent you here.

Find your client below and run its commands yourself. Each one adds this one address and changes nothing else. The server signs the user in with OAuth the first time it connects. You can't finish that sign-in for them, so the last step for every client is theirs.

## Claude Code

```
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user instantclips https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp
```

`--scope user` adds it to every project, not just the folder you are in. Then tell the user to restart Claude Code, type `/mcp`, choose `instantclips` and sign in.

## Codex

```
codex mcp add instantclips --url https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp
```

The command sees that the server signs in with OAuth and opens the user's browser to do it. If that sign-in doesn't finish, `codex mcp login instantclips` starts it again. Then tell the user to restart Codex. The Codex IDE extension and the ChatGPT desktop app read the same settings.

## VS Code and GitHub Copilot

```
code --add-mcp '{"name":"instantclips","type":"http","url":"https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp"}'
```

This adds it to the user's VS Code profile. VS Code asks the user to sign in the first time it starts the server.

## Cursor

Add this entry under `"mcpServers"` in `~/.cursor/mcp.json`, keeping the entries already there. When the file doesn't exist, create it as `{"mcpServers": {…}}`.

```json
"instantclips": {"type":"http","url":"https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp"}
```

Cursor asks the user to sign in when it first connects.

## OpenCode

Add this under `"mcp"` in `~/.config/opencode/opencode.json`, keeping what is there:

```json
"instantclips": {"type":"remote","url":"https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp","enabled":true,"oauth":{}}
```

Then run `opencode mcp auth instantclips` to sign in.

## Windsurf and Devin Desktop

Add this under `"mcpServers"` in `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`. The key is `serverUrl`, not `url`.

```json
"instantclips": {"serverUrl":"https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp"}
```

It asks the user to sign in the first time it connects.

## The Claude app and ChatGPT

A chat can't add a connector to itself. Walk the user through these steps instead, in their language.

**Claude app**

1. In Customize › Connectors, select + › Add custom connector, paste `https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp` and select Add.
2. Select Connect and sign in to InstantClips.
3. In a conversation, turn InstantClips on under + › Connectors.

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds it first under Organization settings › Connectors, and each member then connects it in Customize › Connectors.

**ChatGPT**

1. In ChatGPT, open [Plugins](https://chatgpt.com/plugins) and select Add › Create MCP App.
2. Name it InstantClips, paste `https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp` as the Server URL and keep Authentication on OAuth. Tick “I understand and want to continue”, select Create, and sign in to InstantClips when asked.
3. Start a new chat and ask for a product video, or type @InstantClips to call it by name.

On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, an admin may first need to let members create plugins with MCP servers, under Workspace settings › Permissions & roles.

## Any other client

Point it at https://app.instantclips.ai/mcp over streamable HTTP. Sign-in is the standard MCP OAuth flow: the server's 401 says where it starts. A client that can't open a sign-in page sends an access token instead, as `Authorization: Bearer <token>`. The user creates one at https://app.instantclips.ai/settings#ai-access. Ask them to put it in the client's settings themselves rather than paste it into the chat.

## Before you make a video

Making a video spends the user's credits, the same as on the website. Before each `generate_video`, tell the user what it costs and wait for their go-ahead.

## When you're done

Tell the user, in their language, that InstantClips is added and what is left. For example:

> InstantClips is added. One step left: restart Claude Code, type /mcp, choose instantclips and sign in. Then send me a link to a product page and we'll write an ad for it.

Name the step for their client: the restart and `/mcp` in Claude Code, the browser sign-in in Codex, and the sign-in on first use everywhere else.
